Disc Filters for Aluminium Hydroxide Filtration

In an Australian Alumina plant, 14 disc filters with each 250 m2 filter area are used for the filtration of aluminium hydroxide fine seed, which is re-circulated to the crystallisation process, as well as for the filtration of product. Since the capacity of the production plant was strongly increased to 1,6 Mio. tons per year, BOKELA was engaged to submit suggestions for a filter optimisation. The task was to increase the performance of the filtration plant by 80 % without influencing the product quality - e.g. the residual cake moisture – negatively.
