"nph Kinderhilfe" is an aid organization for vulnerable children in Latin America. Since 2009, the German office of nph has been located in Karlsruhe, right next door to BOKELA. We were so impressed by the project work of our neighbours right from the start that we decided to donate to nph instead of sending Christmas presents to our customers and partners. Peru is a country with spectacular natural beauty and cultural diversity, but many people, especially in rural areas, live in extreme poverty – 17.2% of them below the poverty line. Child labor is widespread: 16% of children between the ages of 5 and 17 are forced to work. The population struggles with malnutrition and lack of access to education and healthcare.
The nph children's village "Casa Santa Rosa de Lima" is home to children who come from precarious backgrounds. Here they can grow up in a loving and safe environment. They have access to education, regular meals, and medical care. The children's village offers a stable environment in which the children have the opportunity to develop their full potential.
The water system is essential for the daily operation of the children's village and supplies all areas of the residential program and the administrative offices. The water is purified in a treatment process that includes all the necessary steps to ensure drinking water quality. The system is operated by several pumps, pipes, and an elevated tank (water tower), all of which require regular maintenance. It is equally important to keep an eye on the condition of the septic tank pumps, as their proper functioning is essential. If a pump fails, not only are the replacement costs high, but there is also a risk of a temporary water shortage. All of this involves corresponding costs, which are to be covered by donations.
